Naomi Campbell is to show her support for Japan’s earthquake victims by hosting a Fashion for Relief event.

The supermodel – who has raised $7 million for charitable causes with similar events to date – will put on the style showcase during next month’s Cannes Film Festival, with all proceeds going towards helping those affected by last month’s devastating earthquake and tsunami rebuild their lives.

Assisted by Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani, Naomi will host both a fashion show and an art auction on May 16.

Earlier this month, Naomi spoke of her hopes to host an event for the survivors of the Japanese natural disaster with her Fashion for Relief charity.

She said: “We are going to continue. It’s not 100 per cent confirmed, but we are in talks right now. Hopefully we should know by the end of the week if we’re doing Fashion for Relief: Japan.

“But not in Japan, we’re hoping to try and do it in Cannes.”

The 40-year-old star organised a similar event in February 2010 to raise money for the survivors of last year’s devastating Haitian earthquake, with fellow supermodel Kate Moss, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts all taking to the catwalk for Fashion for Relief.
